Remembering

It’s become a tradition for me to write about my Daddy the day after the anniversary of his death (and it just occurred to me it’s the day before All Saints Day, a time for remembering).

I post a day late because I don’t want to take away from the celebration of my eldest sister’s birthday, also Oct. 30.

It’s interesting to me that, for various reasons including a sick iPhone, I forgot all about Becky’s birthday until Amy called me to see if I wanted to join her & Mom in taking Becky to lunch. I was grateful for the reminder & delighted to go.

But it wasn’t until later that day, when I was telling Mom about meeting someone that afternoon who had worked with Daddy & spoke highly of him, that Mom reminded me it was the 15th anniversary of Daddy’s death. Somehow it seemed like divine timing to meet someone other than family who still thinks of Daddy after all these years.

The other part of my annual remembrance is sharing my singing of The 23rd Psalm, as a way of saying I’m forever proud to be a daughter of the Psalmist's son — Charles Baker DAVIDSON.
