A good way to start a new month

In my Facebook memories from 2010, worth repeating:

As I turn the page to September, I'm grateful to take time to remember/ Rich blessings of family, friendship and Spirit / Sweet music of life: To hear it! To share it!

Many friends posted Sept. 1 tributes to family, friendship, memories and the promise of fall. The continued cooler weather and rain fueled some of the sentiments, including mine:

When we went for our first walk of September around 9:20 AM, the forecast showed no rain for a while. Wrong! No big deal. I wasn’t at all surprised to find some limbs down. Despite all the rain we got yesterday evening, overnight and this morning, there’s no water standing in our yard. #rainydays #walkingintherain @ Cambridge Neighborhood Park

One other cool thing to start September (and it will be interesting to see whether I keep it going):

Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Youth began the month encouraging 30 days of gratitude. First off, "tag a person you are grateful for." I shared and tagged my husband.

The Goodrich Youth post also shared this great blessing:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

Who are you grateful to have in your life?

  1. I didn't keep up with the Goodrich Youth daily gratitude posts, largely because I didn't see another one in my Facebook feed until several days into the month. By then, I was on to other things. I do make it a habit to express gratitude each day, in silent prayers as well as blessings for meals and in comments to friends, family and others with whom I interact.
